|| Live like God in the western part of Liguria Great Liguria! Only an amount of 60 rainy days a year have been counted at the Italian Riviera. There's no wonder that the Russian high nobility followed by tsarina Maria Alexandrowa resided here in the middle of the past century. |

Mild temperatures are the result of a special geographic situation. The "Flower Riviera"is protected by high mountain ranges against the cold northern winds in the North and East. The low dipping valleys cause that the climate of the Mediterranean Sea can spread all over. The weather is better in comparison to the bordering regions of Piedmont, Emilia - Romagna and the Tuscany. The next Italian climate zone which is similar to this one is as recently as several hundred kilometres far south at the Gulf of Naples. It almost never freezes at the coast. The late months of winter are mostly sunny and during summer it's unlikely to be sweltering as in the midland. Diversity and the quality of life are unique in the ancient cultural landscape of Dolceacqua / San Remo / Imperia / Albenga. At the coast there are beaches, and towns with an enormous past and still owning its' restrained beauty. Calm and noble Bordighera, palm-lined Ospedaletti and rich and famous San Remo. Diano Marina with its extended beach. Porto Maurizio which grew from the capital of the province Imperia, beautiful Cervo followed by elegant Alassio. Eventually Albenga with its impressing town-sights of the Riviera. |
Sports. In all greater villages are tennis-courts available. Exclusive golf courts in San Remo and Garlenda. Milelong hiking-paths in the mountains, riverside valleys and olive groves of the hinterland. Mountain biking in the branches of the oceanic Alps. Sailing and boating at the coast (yachting harbours in Bordighera, San Remo und Menton). Even skiing is possible. Places to ski: Limone at Colle di Tenda and Mónese are easily to reach from Ventimiglia and Imperia (ca. 1hr). Food and beverages. One of the best specialties is the Ligurian kitchen which is the main of the mediterranean cuisines. You can get the best Italian Pizza in Dolceacqua. A rich selection of restaurants in all categories can be found in villages and small towns of the hinterland as in towns of beaches of the coast from Albenga up to Monte Carlo. The olive oil of western Liguria (sort named "Taggiasca") is one of the finest in the world, which is also preferred to be used at Cotè. Very light: The strong, but not too heavy, ordinary table wine Rossese di Dolceaqua or the cheerful Vermentino from the area of Albenga and Diano Marina. |
